Title:

A Low-cost COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate

Abstract:

Amid worldwide lockdowns, scientists strived to develop a COVID-19 vaccine that would defy previous records of time to market. Some of these are now close to being approved. However, low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) will have minimal access to them due to their expensiveness and strict storage requirements. Here, I show the development of a SARS-CoV-2 subunit vaccine candidate tailored for LMICs. We use protein engineering to enhance this candidate’s manufacturability, enabling its global-scale manufacturing and distribution for LMICs.
