Cancer Biology
Cancer biology is the study of the abnormal growth and behavior of cells in the body that lead to the development of cancer.
Types of Research
This research area encompasses genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and immunology, and seeks to understand the complex mechanisms that underlie the development and progression of cancer. Researchers in this field investigate the genetic and epigenetic changes that occur in cancer cells, as well as the interactions between cancer cells and their surrounding tissues, the immune system, and other cellular components of the body. They also work to develop new diagnostic tools, treatments, and therapies for various types of cancer.
Focus Areas
- Cell signaling and metabolism
- Tumor microenvironment
- Therapy resistance
