The Department of Biological Engineering recently welcomed two new members to the faculty, James J. Collins, PhD, and Amy E. Keating, PhD.

On November 21, 2014, over 100 BE undergraduate and graduate students networked with 24 representatives from 13 local, national, and multi-national companies at the first ever BE Career Exploration Event.

“I remember when I visited MIT, they said that they were planning to build a new major and that it would be ready for my year. That was the reason I applied to MIT, for the bioengineering program.”

This past fall, the BE Communication Fellows launched “the BEnch,” a graduate student-led blog designed to increase communication within the department and across the field of biological engineering.  

REFS provides resources and strategies to help graduate students manage conflicts and reduce stress. They offer one-on-one sessions, which are completely confidential, yet informal, where they help students express their conflicts and help them find probable solutions.

I've been the administrator for the NIH Biotechnology Training program for the past 18 years. During that time, I've had the privilege of working with many principal investigators: Institute Professor Daniel I.C. Wang, and Professors Doug Lauffenburger and Dane Wittrup.
